Skillbuild NI 2014
Come along to the Skillbuild Competition on 7&8 May in Southern Regional College, Greenbank Campus between 10am - 3pm.
The competition involves eleven crafts from brickwork to wall & floor tiling and is the largest multi-trade competition for young students and apprentices aged 21 and under in the country. Check out the Skillbuild NI website www.citbcsni.org.uk/skillbuildni for more information.
The competition not only encourages apprentices to improve their own skills but provides an example of the high quality work being produced in training organisations across NI to meet skill levels in the construction industry.
This is a superb event which enables competitors to benchmark themselves against their fellow competitors in Northern Ireland and providing the winners with the opportunity to compete for medal success at National and WorldSkills levels. Skillbuild competitions are part of the WorldSkills UK portfolio of competitions. WorldSkills UK competitions offer outstanding finalists the opportunity to be considered to represent the UK at the largest international vocational skills competition; WorldSkills.
The UK is one of 50 countries that compete at the bi-ennial event. In 2011 Northern Ireland triumphed at the global skills competition WorldSkills London 2011, winning gold, silver and bronze medals as part of Team UK. Last year 3 local competitors were awarded Medallions of Excellence in construction categories as part of team UK at WorldSkills Leipzig 2013.
