Glass & Glazing Training for experienced glazing installers

The issues around the installation of Fire Glass and Glazing were recently highlighted at an event ran in partnership with the Glass & Glazing Federation at our Nutts Corner facility. Due to an excellent response from those attending a second training event has been scheduled to be held at CITB-ConstructionSkills NI on Wednesday 30th April 2014.

The training is principally aimed at experienced glazing installers. It is designed to raise awareness on the function and importance of fire-resistant glazing, how to apply the core principals of installation best practice and provide the attendee the ability to explain to clients, and/or building owners the proper application of fire-resistant glazing in containing fire and the effects of fire.

The training is contained into a morning session and covers among other things:-
• Behaviour of glass in fire
• What is fire resistance?
• Types of fire-resistant glass
• Regulations and responsibilities
• Importance of the glazed system
• Evidence of performance
• Product stamps
• Information available

The training will conclude with a short multiple choice review and a question & answer session.
Even though the training is aimed at experienced glaziers, all those who have a responsibility for the specification of a new build or the maintenance of an existing building that contains fire glass will find the training beneficial.

As this training is being delivered under a CITB-ConstructionSkills NI Tier 2 Funding all registered in-scope construction businesses can attend the training for free others will be charged £100 to participate.
A booking fee of £20 per person is applicable to all participants irrespective of their scope position.
