Essential Skills: Essential for Construction

CITB NI have a suite of Essential Skills resource packs tailored for construction students and those working in the industry in communication, numeracy and ICT. Each of the packs has been developed with accredited Essential Skills tutors and tailored to construction.

Using ‘real life’ examples, scenarios and topics helps to successfully deliver the qualification and helps to increase pass rates.
 
The resource packs should be used in the context of appropriately planned and structured Essential Skills programmes and should be adapted appropriately within that context to keep activities refreshed and dynamic for learners.
Each pack contains all the information required to help each learner with the skills needed to achieve their qualification at Levels 1 and 2 in Communication, Numeracy or Level 1 in ICT.

Barry Neilson, Chief Executive CITB NI said, “Essential Skills are a crucial element of everyday life and work and it is our role to nourish these skills within the construction sector. Construction has suffered hard in the economic climate and skills are a crucial element in rebuilding and rebalancing our economy. For both students and those existing workers in the industry, essential skills are essential for construction.”
