Could you be a CITB NI Board member?

The Department for the Economy is seeking to recruit ten board members to the Construction Industry Training Board Northern Ireland (CITB NI).

Applications from women, young people, people with a disability and those from ethnic minority communities would be particularly welcome. A Guaranteed Interview Scheme for applicants with a disability, will operate for this competition.

CITB NI’s aims to encourage the training of those employed or intending to be employed in the Northern Ireland construction industry.  Our role is to work with industry to improve the performance, qualifications and competence of the existing workforce and help identify and prepare the next generation of entrants to the sector.

The future for the construction sector is one of change.  We are moving into an ever more digital age and the workforce needs help in making this move.  We are also striving to meet the demands of the Net Zero Carbon agenda and, again, the built environment sector is at the forefront of this challenge.  So why not help us understand and contribute to building the skills the industry and workforce will need for the future.

We currently deliver much of our support through training in partnership with a wide range of industry employers and bodies using the combined industry resources to support critical skills and interventions that would not otherwise be available. Sitting alongside our Direct Grant provision, these have been the core of our industry support, informed by significant industry research.

We also deliver training via our Mobile Training Unit, in house Scaffolding Courses, VET 360 virtual environment training and specialist short courses for the needs of the industry.

CITB NI also promotes construction to the younger generation to help them consider construction as a career option for the future. Through careers fairs, exhibitions, a website and a team of construction ambassadors we provide information on the vast range of careers available within construction.

If you want to help shape the recovery, growth and future of the construction sector in Northern Ireland in the years to come, consider becoming a CITB NI Board member. Applications are now open and the closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on Friday 11 March 2022. Late applications will not be accepted.
