CITB NI proud to host another successful CIOB Awards evening

CITB NI were proud to host the Annual Chartered Institute of Building Lecture and Awards evening which commended local students in professional exams in 2014 with over 60 in attendance.
The presentation focused on the Ulster University’s £250m Greater Belfast Development hosted by Paul Spray Project Director and Sam Tyler, Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios.
Certificates were awarded to 10 candidates who successfully passed their CIOB examinations last year through QTAS training centre.  J P Burke from Donaghmore Construction was presented with the Best Overall Performance Award for his outstanding results in the EPA programme in 2014 in Ireland.

Barry Neilson, Chief Executive CITB NI presented the students with their certificates said, “The awards are testament to the continually rising standards and professionalism of the local construction sector and I would like to extend my congratulations to all the students who have worked incredibly hard to achieve CIOB status. Your achievements bode well for the industry, as well as your individual careers  The construction industry is turning a corner after a tough five years, the  local economy  is levelling out and we are looking forward to the future with a confident and more capable workforce able to embrace the opportunities arising as our industry regenerates.”
 
As part of the ceremony certificates were awarded to those who gained top grades in GCSE Construction and Built Environment in 2014. First place was awarded to Andrew Hogg, Ballymena Academy, second place  Richard Fleck from Cambridge House and third place  Jade Bradley, St Killians College Ballymena.
 
Barry Neilson continued, “We are delighted to also present awards to those young people who have excelled at GCSE in Construction and Built Environment. The construction industry presents an exciting and dynamic opportunity for careers for future generations and it’s an industry that never stops training and developing its people to achieve the best results they can.  We commend these students for taking an interest in the subject which may open doors for a future career in construction.”
