CITB NI Throws Support behind Building and Design Trade Event

CITB NI is supporting and attending the very first Northern Builder Trade Show – Belfast’s Big Building and Design Trade Show, which will be running from Wednesday 19th to Thursday 20th November. The event is set to attract a diverse range of visitors, ranging from building contractors, architects, consultants and builders’ merchants to facilities managers, training centres, government and public sector bodies.

The aim of the event is to create some positivity surrounding Northern Ireland’s hard-hit construction industry.
The two-day event is being held in association with the Construction Employers Federation (CEF) and has also been supported by a range of industry bodies. These include Construction Industry Training Board Northern Ireland (CITB NI), the Federation of Master Builders (FMB), Association of Project Managers (APM) and the Health & Safety Executive for Northern Ireland (HSENI). Also supporting the event are the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), Association for Project Safety, Concrete Society, Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), The Quarry Products Association (QPANI) and Building Control NI.

But the event is about so much more than building. According to the Show Director, Karen McAvoy, this year’s focus is on the development of the industry and the business opportunities that accompany it.
“The sole focus of this trade-only event is on fulfilling the needs of the construction and design industry in Northern Ireland and building business for the future. The event offers a great networking opportunity and a chance to learn more about the opportunities and changes in our industry, from transfer of planning powers, Construction and Design Management and Building Information Modelling (BIM) to policy guidelines on sustainable development.”

Over 100 exhibitors and industry participants, spanning a wide spectrum of the building and architectural industry and supply chain from Northern Ireland, Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland will be in attendance.
The Building and Design Trade Show 2014 is free to attend and takes place at the Ramada Plaza Hotel, Shaw’s Bridge, Belfast on Wednesday 19th from 4pm-9pm and Thursday 20th November from 9.30am-4pm. For more information and seminars, visit www.northernbuilder.co.uk.
