CITB NI Supports Trainees Through SkillBuild NI Regional Competition Initiatives

As part of the SkillBuild NI Regional Competition, CITB NI actively collaborates with private training providers to support trainees participating in skills competitions. Following the 2024 SkillBuild NI Regional Competition held at South West College, Rutledge, a leading recruitment and training provider, approached CITB NI seeking assistance to improve their trainees' understanding of skills competition training.

Rutledge aims to increase awareness of skills competitions within their organisation, to promote greater student participation in future regional competitions, and explore the possibility of hosting an Inter-Campus Competition. Such initiatives create a competitive practice environment for students, helping them prepare for the regional event.

To support this effort, CITB NI worked alongside Pat Phillips, a WorldSkills Judge, to deliver a comprehensive overview of competition criteria, along with practical tips and insights for newcomers to the skills competition process.

Additionally, CITB NI extended the opportunity to other private training organisations, and their respective employers, inviting them to participate and gain valuable insights into skills competitions.
