CITB NI Chief Executive Barry Neilson receives prestigious Officer of the British Empire (OBE).
Barry Neilson, Chief Executive at CITB NI has been awarded the Officer of the British Empire (OBE) in the Kings Birthday Honours List 2023 for services to the Economic Development.
The OBE honour is a prestigious recognition bestowed by His Majesty King Charles III in recognition of exemplary service and dedication. This honour highlights Barry’s remarkable achievements and lasting impact on the construction & economic landscape in NI and the UK.
Barry’s has held the post of Chief Executive with CITB NI for 13 years and before that has held posts with Cogent Sector Skills Council, Scottish Special Housing Association, National House Building Council (NHBC) and Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).
The OBE not only acknowledges Barry’s exceptional leadership within CITB NI but also recognises his work with Government, industry, and stakeholders within NI and beyond to promote and deliver training and development within construction. Barry’s commitment to skills and training has been commended through his work with the NI Skills Council and the Strategic Advisory Forum for Apprenticeships & Youth Training across all sectors of the economy.
On receiving the award Barry said, “It’s an incredible honour to be awarded an OBE in the Kings Birthday Honours List and I am deeply humbled and grateful for this recognition for my contribution and work. This honour is not only a personal milestone but a testament to the CITB NI Board and staff for their support, teamwork and shared commitment to training, skills, and development within the local construction sector.”
