What is Skillbuild?

SKILLBUILD is the annual competition for apprentices in the construction industry. Demand for skilled people in the construction industry continues to grow and Skillbuild is the showcase of the best of today's young talent. The competition over the years has shown the impact that young craftsmen and women are making in the construction industry and the range of careers, which can be developed from having the knowledge of a skilled trade.

Founded over 23 years ago, over 2,000 young men and women have taken part in regional Skillbuild Competitions, many of whom have progressed onto National and World Finals.

Skillbuild has the support of the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), Department for Employment and Learning, City and Guilds, Employers, Colleges and other Recognised Training Organisations.

"I have made it to the top of the ladder as far as Skillbuild Competitions go. Having won gold in both the regional and the national competitions, I was awarded a place on the UK team to compete at the World Skills Finals in St. Gallen, Switzerland. It was a great experience and allowed me to see how my skills matched up to other apprentices from around the world. I am now self employed, with plenty of jobs on and the money is great. I would recommend the Skillbuild competition to any apprentice."
