It is a trade I will have for life and it is not heavy or dirty or anything like that. Plumbers can earn really good salaries too! |

Apprentice Plumber Heat
Aisling chose a career in plumbing because she wanted to do something practical but would have found hairdressing etc really boring. She talked to a few tutors at Springvale Training about various courses and plumbing sounded the most interesting.
After enrolling onto an NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing Aisling secured a 2 year placement with Belfast based plumbing firm Heat. She loves the variety of the work, not being stuck in an office or on site all the time, enjoying travelling around the Province with other plumbers and learning new things every day.
Aisling is currently working with a Team Leader, so she is involved with about six service calls per day. The team leader is also called to breakdowns, which is increasing her skills and knowledge. She also gets to meet the other plumbers regularly when the Team Leader calls out to supervise their work.
A typical day starts with picking up the work schedule in the morning at 8.30am from the office. The working day normally ends at 4.30pm but this very much depends on the jobs involved at breakdown, the customer cannot be left without heat or hot water so we stay as long as it takes!
