Sector Skills

The role as a Sector Skills Council is to improve the skills and productivity of the industry, to deliver a safe, professional and fully qualified workforce across the whole of the construction industry in Northern Ireland

A message from our new Chief Executive – Barry Neilson

As the previous Skills Director - Scotland & Northern Ireland for Cogent, the Sector Skills Council for the science based and polymer industries I have a good understanding of skills and training issues. Prior to this I was the Director in Scotland for the Chartered Institute of Building and was responsible for their UK wide policy and external relations team. My background is in Civil Engineering and I am a Chartered Civil Engineer. I am looking forward to embracing this new role as Chief Executive and facing the challenges that lie ahead.
